Camp Na No Wri Mo 2019 – InstaWriMo Challenge

I’m taking part in Camp NaNoWriMo this year and they set an Instagram Challenge of a photo a day for 31 days, I couldn’t really commit to posting on my Instagram for 31 consecutive days so I decided I’d make a blog post of it instead. The photo prompts are all about writing and this year’s camp. I hope you enjoy this post!

1st March – My writing Inspiration

My writing inspiration.jpg

My biggest writing inspiration is actually my family, everything I do is for them, they are my inspiration to succeed and continue to work as hard as I possibly can.

2nd March – Shelfie

965A5725.jpg

I recently re-organized my bookshelf as it was beyond a mess, I like to think I have a wide variety of genre’s on my bookshelf but I can not wait for the day I get to put my own novel amongst these fantastic writers.

3rd March – Writing Tools

Writing Tools.jpg

This is a bit boring but the tools I use for writing are my laptop, notebooks and my kindle (for research).

4th March – Current Book

Harry Potter Goblet of Fire Photo.jpg

The current book I am reading is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as I’m taking part in the #hpreadandwatch challenge on Instagram, you can follow my progress on my Instagram account here.

5th March – Where in the World?

I’ve decided to set my book in my hometown, as I’ve lived here my entire life and I am a lot more knowledgeable and comfortable writing about it, certain things might be changed but it will be overall based on the Wirral.

6th & 29th March  – Thinking Cap (OR Outfit?) & A writer in the Wild

Writer in th wild.JPG

I decided to mix these 2 into one photograph as I am often found writing in my thinking outfit. My thinking outfit isn’t specific at all, it’s very much just whatever I feel comfortable in at that moment, sometimes it’s pajamas, sometimes it’s jeans. 9 times out of 10 it includes a long cardigan because I’m too obsessed with them!

7th March – Writing Buddy

Writing Buddy.jpg

Some of you may not know but my Husky Katishka passed away last month and she will always remain my writing buddy as she holds her own place on my desk.

8th March – Favourite Fictional Heroine

My favourite fictional heroine (at the moment) is Clarissa Fairchild, I absolutely adore The Mortal Instrument’s series’ and I especially love Clary, she is very headstrong and determined, my opinion may be slightly biased as I’ve finally found the time to watch the Shadowhunter’s series’ on Netflix.

9th March – Character Quote

My favourite character quote isn’t really a character quote but I love this Shakespeare quote from Midsummer Night’s Dream.

10th March – Writing Music

I have a Spotify playlist called ‘I am writing’ which is filled with music for every emotion, I find it easier to listen to a song that provokes emotion in myself, that way I am able to portray that emotion through my characters.

11th March – Marginalia

I actually don’t write in the margin’s of any books anymore, I have one copy of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet from High School which has but I can not find it! I do have this very handy post-it note slide on which holds on to the book. I only make notes on books that can be considered complicated like this one ‘Women who run with the Wolves’ by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

12th March – Vision Board

I’m really unhappy that I really cannot share my vision board with you at this moment in time, I just feel like sharing my novel idea’s this early on will not help me what so ever. But that being said I have made a Pinterest board for you all to keep tabs on!

13th & 14th March – Writing Beverage & Writing Snack

965A5880.JPG

My favourite writing beverage usually consists of tea, hot chocolate and sometimes the occasional red bull. I am a massive croissant fan and you’ll often find me eating one of them whilst I write away!

15th March – Author Photo

I was in need of a new Author Photo so we decided to make use of the beautiful spring weather and get this new shot! Any excuse to rock my favourite hat!

16th & 19th March – Notes, and Research & Story Map or Outline

I love getting all of my notes and research down on paper before I put it anywhere digital that way I am able to scribble and make mistakes as many times as I want. I find it much easier to brainstorm this way.  I included my story map in this, I generally tend to follow a pattern when planning and writing my story, and this is the order.

17th March  – At the End of the Rainbow

At the end of the rainbow.jpg

This is a bit cringey but what is at the end of the rainbow for me I hope is a novel I have written that I am proud of.

18th March – Cover Art

965A5919.JPG

Since I do not currently have cover art for my novel, I have chosen some of my favourite cover arts, I love this very simplistic cover art’s over the very fancy ones, I think they are very effective and mysterious making me much more likely to read.

20th March – Your Writing Desk

This is my writing desk as of now, it is still a work-in-progress itself but it is my corner where I can sit, write and work on my blog!

21st March – Current Mood

My current mood is basically tea and springtime!

22nd March – Come as your character

One of my characters wears a signature fishtail braid and you will never see her without it. She’s mysterious and a bit of a loner. P.S she is not my main character…

23rd March – Writer’s Block Unblocker

My favourite thing to do when I’m struggling with writer’s block is to take a walk with my camera, I can find a lot of peace and inspiration from nature and I’d recommend to those of you who struggle with writer’s block.

24th March – Your Writing Heroes

My writing Heroes are J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, and Lewis Carroll, I really love Jane Austen too but I really respect these three authors’ for a very different reason. They all created a new world that doesn’t exist (despite the fact we wish it did!)

25th March – Sneaky Writing

This is an old photograph but I do love it and it’s one of the first things that popped into my head when I saw this prompt. I can often be caught writing anywhere, I don’t care where I am or who I am with (no offense) but when inspiration hits I will take full advantage of it.

26th March – Your First Story

When I was younger I used to take part in a lot of writing competitions with set themes’ yes this isn’t the greatest ‘short story’ ever but I was very proud at Age 12 to have my story published in a book I still own today. I have edited out names, schools’ and ages for privacy. This isn’t the first story I ever wrote but it is the first ever piece of work I’ve had published.

27th March – Plot Bunny

I am fortunate (I guess) to not have a plot bunny, which I am grateful for because I don’t really have the time for a story or character hanging over my head.

28th March Something to Celebrate

I’d like to celebrate that I’m fortunate enough that my daughter loves reading as much as I do.

30th March – Poem

A similar theme to 26th March Your first story, this is the first poem I ever had published which I wrote when I was 13. I was very proud of this and it was inspired by a song I loved on the theme of heroes. Names, Schools and age’s are edited out for privacy.

31st March – The Beginning of a writing adventure

I finally got myself a typewriter, I probably won’t be writing much of my Camp NaNoWriMo Story using this but I will be writing some other things on it!

And so begin’s my first ever Camp NaNoWriMo adventure…
