If you haven’t already read my review of Heavenward by Olga Gibbs you can read it here and I have an Author Interview with Olga Gibbs herself here.
Here is my spoiler-free review of Hallow by Olga Gibbs. (5/5 star rating).
Hallow is the second book in the Celestial Creature series written by Olga Gibbs.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Heavenward the first book in the Celestial Creatures series and Hallow followed after brilliantly, and I don’t know how I am supposed to contain myself whilst waiting for the next book in the series. It has truly been a pleasure to be offered the opportunity to get involved with this book tour as I now have another favourite book series to add to the evergrowing collection!
Hallow follows the story of Ariel after the event’s in Heavenward, she is struggling to deal with her new status and she is burdened in the feeling that she is responsible for the death of another being. We really get to see Ariel’s character development during Hallow and how she is trying to almost ‘fill the boots’ she’s been given. She is still very much troubled by her past as she is in Heavenward and she is struggling to find out how to deal with her emotion and how to move forward with it.
Hallow is written in the first person P.O.V of Ariel, as Heavenward is. I love that I am able to understand how Ariel thinks and how she feels about certain things, I felt her pain as she felt it and it was incredibly powerful. We spend the minority of the book with Ariel and Rafe trying to find Ariel’s sister Jess, Ariel blames herself for her sister’s troubles which really pulled on my heartstrings.
Hallow was much more emotional than Heavenward and I shed tears at a particular scene in the novel. We really get good character development from Ariel in Hallow as she learns more about who she is and who she wants to be. I really hope that in the next novel we see a much more confident and stronger version of her. We watch her relationships with other characters such as Rafe really blossom and I hope she can let more people in rather than taking the whole world on her own shoulders.
I read this book within 2 days and I really didn’t want it to end. If you want a dark fantasy novel that really draws you in the Celestial series is for you!
“I want to turn back time and take it all back, every single word.” – Ariel in Hallow.
