I’ve mentioned previously back on my Study Tips post that I’m technically a student again and it’s not been particularly easy. I’m learning more about Mental Health so I can not only learn more about my own but so I can also provide insightful knowledge and help more people who like me are highly affected by their Mental Health.
I’ve been studying so hard lately, and I feel like I got stuck in a situation where I wasn’t feeling motivated anymore, I wanted to get the work done but I felt like I had nothing to work towards. As I’ve mentioned in some of my previous post’s, I do sometimes find it helpful to have something to motivate you to continue so I decided to buy myself a gift of motivation. I bought a book that I couldn’t open until I’d finished all of my work and I managed to get 8 weeks worth of work finished in less than 1 week.
I don’t mean I rushed my work, I just felt suddenly much more motivated to work towards my prize, which of course was a book to add to the ever-growing to be read pile.
I purchased a book from blinddatewithabook.com, I had to choose a book without looking at the cover and instead choose a book based on a few summary words on what the novel is about. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. I think I spent almost an hour trying to choose which one to order.
Blind Date with a Book is a company that aims to stop us from judging a book by its cover by taking away the cover and making us purchase a book based on a few words instead of a picture. I immediately fell in love with this idea and I’ve been wanting to buy one for so long!
They have 48 different books to choose from, and I didn’t have an easy time choosing, in the end, I chose ‘All the feels, Romance, Heartbreak, Parents, Boyfriends, Young Adult.’ It arrived promptly and beautifully packaged, it also included a free ‘Blind Date with A Book’ bookmark.
I wanted to add that I loved these ‘Don’t open until’ stickers which are free, I feel like they add that little bit extra and would be so cute on a gift for any occasion.
This is usually on the outer packaging but for privacy sake, I did peel it off and stuck it on the wrapping paper.
You can watch my reaction to opening ‘All the feels’ here.
And I can reveal to you all the book I received was ‘Eleanor & Park’ by Rainbow Rowell.
Rainbow Rowell is a YA and Adult fiction novels, Eleanor & Park was published in 2013 and was named one of seven Notable Children’s Books of 2013 by The New York Times. Eleanor and Park is told from dual prospectives of both Eleanor and Park and tackles themes including bullying, domestic abuse, child abuse and body image.
I haven’t heard of Eleanor & Park before, nor have I read any of the works of Rowell. I am in love with the front cover and I noted that her other novels have a similar theme in the covers. The blurb has me reeling to know more, and I already regret not reading this book I never read earlier.
“Eleanor is the new girl in town, and with her chaotic family life, her mismatched clothes and unruly red hair, she couldn’t stick out more if she tried.
Park is the boy at the back of the bus. Black T-shirts,headphones, head in a book – he thinks he’s made himself invisible. But not to Eleanor… Never to Eleanor.
Slowly, Steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall for eachother. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you’re young, and you feel as if you have nothing and everything to lose.” – Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell.
I am pleased with the book that I have received and I hope that I thoroughly enjoy it. When I have finished reading this book I will be posting the review here on my blog. I wish I could be a little more specific on when, but I hope it will be sometime after the summer holidays at the earliest. I just have too much to write and too much to read.
I love this idea! I’m definitely going to order a book!

I’ve never heard of this concept before. Wow 😮GREAT idea. I love books, but I have time management challenges. Am reading mine via audio right now. When life slows down a bit I’ll try this magical idea. ❤️

I bought a Blind Date with a Book from a bookshop in Canterbury, and although I still haven’t got round to reading it, the excitement was almost too much to bear!
Look forward to reading your review of Eleanor and Park 🙂 hope you enjoy reading it.
